Kaufland Logistics Centre

SIRRAH projekt was engaged on the Kaufland logistics centre in Jastrebarsko after difficulties had arisen during the main-design phase. The immediate task was to complete the execution-design documentation within an exceptionally short programme and to provide the clarity required for construction to continue. This placed particular emphasis on rapid coordination, reliable decision-making and the production of drawings that could be used directly on site.

The development stands as four separate large buildings, each stated to measure at least 20,000 square metres, with complex installations and operational requirements. The project indicator on the same page gives a total area of 70,000 square metres, so these figures have been retained as printed and flagged in the accompanying data notes rather than silently reconciled. The complex includes extensive storage halls, loading docks, temperature-controlled areas, service spaces and the external circulation required for a major distribution operation.

Execution design for a logistics centre of this scale involves much more than documenting the envelope. Structural grids, fire compartments, refrigeration and mechanical systems, dock equipment, warehouse layouts and vehicle movements must all be coordinated without disrupting the efficiency of the operation. The portfolio presents the completed centre as the most advanced logistics facility in Croatia at the time.

The project illustrates the office’s ability to enter a demanding commission at a critical stage and stabilize it through disciplined technical delivery. Its architectural expression remains robust and functional, with long warehouse elevations, clearly articulated loading zones and a consistent corporate identity. The year is printed as “20094.” in the portfolio and is therefore recorded as an apparent source error rather than corrected without confirmation.
